PSD Announces New Director of Information Technology

Parkland School Division’s Superintendent of Schools, Tim Monds is proud to announce that Mark Karaki has been appointed Director of Information Technology effective immediately. 

As Director, Mr. Karaki will be responsible for the overall strategy, planning and implementation of Parkland School Division’s Information Technology. He will oversee the department’s goal of aligning our Division’s services and infrastructure with the transformation outlined in Inspiring Education while adhering to the newly released Alberta Education Technology Policy Framework. 

“Mark has an intimate knowledge base of Parkland School Division’s information technology,” states Superintendent Monds. “PSD is proud of the fact that we are leaders when it comes to innovation and the implementation of new teaching and learning methods. Mark is an excellent solutions provider and has an appreciation for the service levels that our entire division has come to expect and will need in the future.” 

Mr. Karaki originally joined PSD in May of 2013 as an Information Technology Team Lead. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Alberta in 1997 and added a diploma from the Information Technology Professional Program at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology in 2000. Upon completing his studies, Mr. Karaki worked for a consulting firm for 5 years before joining Etelligent Solutions as a technical consultant and has worked in various consulting capacities from 2005 – 2013.
