A Message to Fort McMurray Students

June 17, 2016 - As the 2015-16 school year comes to a close, Parkland School Division staff would like to take this opportunity to thank all the Fort McMurray students who joined us and allowing us the privilege of welcoming you into our schools and getting to know you.

We feel honoured to have been a very small part of your journey. We hope that you found Parkland School Division to be a safe, caring and welcoming environment to call home during your time here.  In Parkland School Division, we believe that confident, adaptable and resilient students are successful students.  Thanks for being a shining example of this for all our staff and students. Our thoughts and good wishes go with you as life begins to get back to normal.  We hope that you find the time to enjoy family and friends over the summer.

All the very best and our sincere wishes for a happy, healthy and safe summer.

A Message from Canadian Red Cross

Dear Students, Staff and Parents from Parkland School Division No 70

Can you imagine watching your city burn from your vehicle as you follow the mandatory evacuation order, not knowing when you will return?

For thousands of individuals and families affected by the wildfires, this was the shocking reality. The hardships these people faced and continue to face cannot be overstated.

But neither can the impact of your generosity.

Thank you so much for working together to raise funds and being part of this historic recovery effort. Your kindness is helping thousands as they take their first steps towards recovering from this devastating event.
In the weeks and months ahead, you will make it possible for them to rebuild their lives and their community.
I have attached your Certificate of Appreciation in hopes you would print it out and display it proudly in your school.  Great work!!!
I would also like to share your copy of our most recent update to show you exactly how you have helped.

On page 4 of your report, you will see just a few examples of evacuees reaching out to say thank you not to us, but to you for being there in their time of need. The impact of your donation to these people is very real.

Once again, thank you for your compassion during this tragedy. We could not be there if it weren’t for you.

Warm regards,

Shelley Braiden
