PSD Hires New Director of Transportation
Parkland School Division’s Superintendent of Schools, Tim Monds is proud to announce that Dennis Simcoe has been appointed Director of Transportation effective January 5, 2015.
As Director, Mr. Simcoe will be responsible for the overall direction and operations of Parkland School Division’s department of Transportation. He will oversee one of the largest regional student transportation systems in the province and will be responsible for all transportation planning, scheduling and transportation budget management for the Division. He will also manage all key relationships with independent transportation contractors.
“Mr. Simcoe brings a wide variety of experience in the engineering and fleet management field that will serve Parkland School Division well,” states Superintendent Monds. “It’s part of our Mission at PSD to provide safe and caring learning environments for all our students and that starts the moment our children step on the bus. We’re confident Mr. Simcoe will provide the necessary leadership to help us deliver the promise we’ve made to all the families in PSD.”
Mr. Simcoe holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and has certification as a fleet asset management professional. In his most recent position with the City of Edmonton, he was a General Supervisor of Fleet Acquisition and Disposal. This role included asset design and specification, acquisition and disposal of over 3,800 fleet vehicles and equipment as well as contract and life cycle management. Mr. Simcoe has also held a variety of fleet supervisory or managerial positions serving the City of Edmonton's Fire Department, Ambulance and Edmonton Police Services.
