Back to Duffield School Monday

Friday, April 22, 2016 (4:20pm)

First and foremost, a sincere thank you goes out Parkland County emergency services for their tremendous work this past week keeping our families safe and protecting our communities from the brush fires that ravaged the area.

Our Facilities Services Department hired an independent contractor to conduct air quality testing inside Duffield School over a 24-hour period that spanned from Thursday to Friday. The results indicated that it will be safe to return to school Monday morning.

As of Friday afternoon, there are no advisories in affect issued by Alberta Health Services as far as the air quality is concerned in the immediate region.  The fire will smoulder for the next 3 or 4 days and their may be a lingering smell of smoke but conditions are safe for our staff and students to return.

School grounds will be returned to normal as the fire Operations Centre on the sports fields will be gone.

Alberta Health Services will continue to monitor the air quality index and prevailing winds.

Should any circumstances change, please check in with Parkland School Division's Transportation Services at 780-963-8452 or check our Bus Status page.  This will be updated by 7am every morning.

Plan to be back at Duffield School Monday morning.

Parkland School Division is committed to providing safe and caring places for all students to learn.

Thanks again to all parents and guardians for helping us make the most out of a challenging situation.
